Sometimes we just need to get out of the office.
Today, my staff writer and I had to hit the road for an interview, and though we didn’t have a sunny day to enjoy, today was still one of the best work days I’ve had in a few weeks.
It’s just nice to unchain myself from the confines of my cubicle (and its phone and e-mail and social media and …)
The two of us pretty much work nonstop most days, which might surprise people considering we’re a weekly, to write several stories each week and handle the day-to-day duties of the paper.
Truth be told, I’ve been feeling pretty restless and antsy lately, so needless to say, it did me a world of good to chat with people face to face, get out and see “the world” so to speak and just recharge the old engines.
Plus, the people we came across were kind, polite (and one was just a little bit scary, but it only added to the day’s charm, really), which was a refreshing change of pace.
Though being out of the office so much today makes tomorrow that much more stressful, I feel regenerated and excited to go back and hunker down.
How do you break out of your proverbial work box?
