A rainy-day tanka

It’s been raining here in Northeastern Pennsylvania for what seems like a year. The sun reared its light for but a minute today, and it’s really making me stir crazy.

I got home today and don’t know if it was the booming thunder, the sound of cars sloshing on the wet road or the three rain-themed moody Nick Cave songs that were in my iPod shuffle, but I’m channelling Seattle through my pen today. Here’s my first tanka in three long months:

Endless rain for days
Weakens one’s strengths and resolve;
Pick up that razor
As the thunder booms again,
All the time hoping for sun.
