Day 19: Write a poem about something you hold sacred.

it feels
as elusive
as a winning number
but I
– but we –
hold steadfast that
it’s just around the corner
or down the block
or in the next station
waiting for us
to find it
hidden ‘neath the rubble,
the garbage,
the despair,
that thing they call
