“I like to be surprised. The best writing is when it defies me,
when it starts going a different way than I had planned.”

Wally Lamb

If you haven’t read Lamb’s 1992 masterpiece “She’s Come Undone,” stop what you’re doing and read it, like, now. It’s so good, and I’ve re-read this book so many times over the years that its spine is soft and worn. The emotive life story of Dolores Price never fails to get me every time, and Lamb’s writing is truly wondrous. It’s amazing how he can capture not only the voice but the daily horrors of life as a chubby girl through adulthood so well. Read this book. You’ll thank me.

About nikkimmascali

I am an editor, writer and New Yorker who has ink for blood and the blog name + tattoo to prove it. Also of note: I follow more dogs than people on Instagram. This is my blog about reading, writing and absolutely no 'rithmetic because I am horrendous at math.
